Attendees will actively learn skills they can master to guide them towards the delivery of articulate, thoughtful, and concise recommendations that are valued by senior management and all stakeholders. Starting with the end in mind is a key component of building the journey story of communication, and will allow the attendees to work through problems, failures and ideas while keeping the needs of the target audience in mind.

Human Factor Influence on Decision Making

Recognize the influence of human behavior on your ability to make objective decisions.  Leave this session with a heightened awareness of signs to look for that typically go undetected, and can adversely impact your patients, your product and your organization.

Senior Decisions with Broadened Stakeholder Awareness

Attendees will demonstrate an understanding of the needs and benefits of cross-functional partners and external stakeholders as they develop solutions.

Case Study Background and Discussion

A complex and advanced case study will be introduced to the attendees, followed by group work and discussion of critical details that will support the solutions the attendees will build throughout the course of the summit. The case study will be woven throughout each session of the summit as attendees incorporate what they learn into the development of their final solutions.

Senior Leadership - Challenges involved in Complex Decisions

Senior Leaders are often faced with complex decisions that involve an understanding of the history of the issue, the technical aspects of products and processes, and intertwined impact to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.  Interpreting early signals to know when to take action is the mark of an experienced leader.  This session will introduce new aspects to the case study that include these types of complex decisions that participants will work through with their colleagues and session leaders.

Decisions Made Clearer - Tools you can use Today

Attendees will be exposed to new decision making tools and processes as they are given additional case study information to work through. The tools and processes will enable them to focus on true root causes and viable paths forward, and will include data aggregation that provides the big picture senior leaders need.

FDA Perspective on Senior Leadership

FDA will share the red flags they have experienced on inspection that indicate to them that complex challenges are not approached from a holistic viewpoint that ensures risk to patient safety is effectively mitigated.

How to Build an Effective Business Case

Attendees will learn how to “think like a Senior Leader.” They will view the case study from micro and macro levels in order to incorporate specific business factors into their recommended solution that go beyond their functional area of responsibility, while keeping the needs of their audience (senior management) in mind.
